B-A-Y, B-A-Y, B-A-Y-C-I-T-Y, with an R-O... sorry, we had a bit of a flashback to happier times then. But while Rollermania might've been happy times for the millions of screaming, tartan-clad fans, the proto-boyband's story is one of untold misery.

Despite their cheerful 70s hits like Shang-A-Lang and Bye, Bye, Baby, the Bay City Rollers are now more famous for their late manager Tam Paton's imprisonment for indecency against boys, the prosecution of drummer Derek Longmuir for possessing indecent images of children and the fact that the vast fortune their years at the top should've earned never materialised.

Despite accusations he'd nicked it, Paton always claimed they'd signed a dodgy record deal but, since no copy of the contract exists, record label Sony BMG have been unable to ascertain who is owed what.
