She's one of the world's most successful popstars on the planet and now Rihanna has broken the record for the most number one pop songs.
Singles of the week: 13/02/2012
ARTIST: One Direction
TITLE: One Thing
VERDICT: The One Direction infection seems to be spreading worldwide as the lads are currently enjoying being 'hot new things' in America supporting trans-Atlantic boyband buddies Big Time Rush.
And after the rest of Europe getting the third single from the Up All Night before us lot in the UK (not fair), One Thing is finally available to buy this week.
The super-cute and rather dapper-looking fivesome look like they're having fun as usual in the accompanying video as they lark around London on space-hoppers, on top of an open air bus etc. to the soundtrack of the up-tempo catchy, poppy and slightly rocky song which builds up from Liam's smooth vocals during most of the verses to the roaring chorus "So get out, get out, get out of my head / And fall into my arms instead... You've got that one thing."
The song is written by global pop supremos Rami Yacoub, Carl Falk and X Factor's Savan Kotecha. The single features a brand new song on the B-side called I Should Have Kissed You.
We're predicting another top 5 chart hit for the lads and they might even follow it up next week with an award as they've bagged themselves a Brits nomination for Best Single with What Makes You Beautiful...

ARTIST: Emeli Sandé
TITLE: Next To Me
VERDICT: As many have been fit to burst with anticipation for the release of Emeli's debut album, Our Version of Events (out this week), the third single to be taken from it certainly cements the notion that she is one of the hottest new properties in homegrown pop music (she was recently voted the 2012 Brits Critics' Choice too).
Those who have seen the singer-songwriter perform live know that she beautifully executes her eloquently-penned tracks, often with minimal instrumental backing to showcase that voice, but the pepped-up video and radio-friendly version of Next To Me induces a positively energetic gospel-like urge to throw your hands up in praise of whatever elated feeling it brings.
The track could sound somewhat religious, or perhaps romantic, but it is actually about Emeli's adoration for music. Either way, we defy you to get through a listen of it without being earwormed by the catchy chorus melody and consequently end up singing it all day long (as we did upon viewing the recent video premiere).
Following her recent sold-out tour, Emeli is heading out on the road again for a headline tour in April 2012. Kelly Rowland told us she thought Sande was 'dope' - Next To Me is certainly her 'dopest' single release yet.

ARTIST: Azari & III
TITLE: Reckless (With Your Love)
VERDICT: Dubbed 'the hottest property in house', Torontonian four-piece Azari & III finally bring their 2009 single Reckless (With Your Love) to the mainstream, courtesy of a radio edit from Adele super-producer Paul Epworth.
Taking inspiration from the era that originally engrossed the group in the club scene, the track blends a familiar mid-Nineties electro sound with a soulful vocal, and has already become a staple on dancefloors across the globe.
We bet you'll end up throwing some shapes upon hearing it - perhaps not as cool and synchronised as those in the video though...
The group are in high demand at club and festivals and have been championed by the likes of Annie Mac, Boys Noize, The XX and Johnny Depp. Their recent live dates in the UK are bound to have to further cemented their trans-Atlantic popularity.
Azari & III will release their self-titled album on February 19.

With the worldwide viral phenomenon that it is, I think a second week at number one will occur for: Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know.
Whether it's an album or single chart-topper, I reckon this week, one way or another, there will be a number one spot to celebrate for: Emeli Sande - either with single Next To Me or album Our Version Of Events.
