Otherwise known as the 'Annie Lennox Award'. Don't get us wrong, we love the former Eurythmics androgyne as much as anyone else. But she's won that award six times - all but one of them for years where she hadn't even released an album! Annie Lennox gets to be the Best British Female simply by turning up. That hardly seems fair on Kate Bush (always the bridesmaid, only once the bride). Annie had been missing from the nominations in recent years, allowing her crown to be snatched by such iconic musical legends as Ms Dynamite and Sonique. But since she released a Greatest Hits album in 2009 (her cover of Ash's Shining Light has to be heard to be believed) Annie should probably start clearing some mantelpiece space for 2010.
