Scouser Mel C was attending the Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts in 1994 when she replied to an ad in The Stage looking for "streetwise, outgoing, ambitious, and dedicated" young women aged 18-23 for a new girl group.
She passed the first audition but missed the second, only making the final lineup when an unfortunate young lady named Lianne Morgan was told she looked too old. Christened 'Sporty' by Top of the Pops magazine for her tomboy image, she was generally regarded as having the best voice of all the Spice Girls.

IS PEOPLE WHO CAN ACTUALLY SING WITHOUT THE AID OF COMPUTER TRICKERY, AND SPECIALLY DESIGNED SPEAKER TECHNOLOGY AND RESISTORS AND CPU AND COMPUTER BOARDS AND SOFTWARE CORRECTING BADLY SUNG WORDS, I HAVE HEARED THESE ON STAGE ON A LIVE EVENT WHEN I TOOK MY DAUGHTER, AND WHEN I LOOKED AROUND PEOPLE LOOKED EMBARRASED TO BE THERE, IT SOUNDED AWFUL, IT JUST SHOWS YOU HOW BADLY THESE GIRL AND BOY BANDS RELY ON COMPUTER SOFTWARE TO CORRECT THE RECORDING, BUT ON STAGE WITH BASIC POWERFUL AMPS AND SPEAKERS AND REALL INSTRUMENTS THESE BANDS ARE AWFUL.
REMEMBER ONLY A FEW CAN ACTUALLY SING BUT TO DO THAT YOU HAVE BE GOOD ON AN OPEN AIR STAGE OR CONCERT HALL, BUT WITHOUT ALL THAT EQUIPMENT IN COMPUTERS AND SOFTWARE DOING IT FOR YOU OR MIMMING ON STAGE.

Who on earth thought that a shining example of talentless mediocrity such as the Spice Girls should be involved in a national celebration? Their role in music history was to entertain little girls in the 1990's! Come on we can do better than that!

Dear o dear, is this the best we can come up with for the Queens Jubilee? What exactly are they going contribute? They can't sing only mine. They are TOO OLD. The only reason must be a small fortune and i bet us the tax payers are paying. Surely there must be much better entertainment than this!

No they didn't. Maybe a few people had that motivation for it at the beggining but that wasn't the cause of the riots. Most of them were just opportunistic looters and thugs who wanted chaos as an excuse to be violent or to steal from people and shops. 98% were not doing it for any kind of principal or moral reasons.

The issue here is the dangerous impressions women caught up in the pressures and demands of being famous give to our children,,, it's not cool to starve your self ,fill your boobs with fake dangerous gloop to have ribs protruding and collar bones sticking out and legs so thin they look as though the could snap, when we look at images of emaciated survivors of the holocaust we ARE all horrified by this image, funny what designers, beauticians and hair stylists can do! give me Little Mix any day!!! I hope to God they don't become stuffy plastic barbie type women who are so self indulged in them selves to the point of what is in reality self harm in order to look good.

Individually as singers they are useless.
Why not someone who can sing and although Susan Boyle isn't my cup of tea at least she can belt them out and seems to me to me to be more appropriate for this event than a bunch of talentless has beens.
