I think we will let end of year charts tell us what was the best and then magazines like Q and NME to tell us the music industys choice. I aint going to take much notice of 3 people who know nothing apart from what they are told to like. If this personal choice of theirs had a few surprises in it I would have said yeah fair play to them they have goodtaste, but they dont...

I have to completely agree with Julia, rock music has been overlooked completely. There have been big names such as Evanescence, Nickelback, Within Temptation, and Foo Fighters etc. All people seem to want to listen to is autotuned crap and music that has only been made solely to make money like Rebecca Black, Lady Gaga, Rihanna etc - how much of there music can you actually relate too in life? surely very little! at least rock acts right original material than recreate the same music style of music over and over again!

beyonce ha ha dont make me laff. lady ga ga ? F**K OFF! What about Arctic Monkeys - Suck It And See, Foo Fighters - Wasting Light, Kasabian - Velociraptor, Radiohead - The King Of Limbs, Elbow - Build A Rocket Boys or i suppose none of them are mainstream enough for msn.

@ Sarah Roberts. Sigh no more? Are you mental? That came out in 2009, and lol at Britney Spears.

Album of the year is Let England Shake by PJ Harvey, Bon Iver by Bon Iver, Helplessness Blues by Fleet Foxes or The Hunter by Mastodon.

Some of you lot need to listen to a little bit more than what's played on Radio 1.

The album of the year is ‘BRUISER’ by THE DUKE SPIRIT. One of the few bands out there today with true rock n’ roll fire burning in their collective bellies. Hearty slaps on the back and firm handshakes all round also for YOUNG LEGIONNAIRE’s ‘CRISIS WORKS’ and JAPANESE VOYEURS’ ‘YOLK’.

 

Julia and Shahin, you’ve just embarrassed yourselves. You really need to listen to more albums and go to more gigs if your lists of commercial drivel are what you consider to be “real rock”.

I know the list is personal opinion but.............COME​ ON MSN! This is more like the worst albums of 2011. Please change the title and then create the correct list please.

I agree that it's a shame that Wasting Light by the Foo Fighters and Evanescence's eponymous third album didn't make it to the list...but there are a couple of stand out albums - would recommend Stone Rollin' by Raphael Saadiq (number 20 in the list) - it's "proper" rhythm and blues (not RnB) and is well worth a listen, assuming you like music.

 

And Kate Bush.  No more needs to be said, the woman's a genius.

 

 

How in the bloody Hell is Wasting Light not on this list?? This Foo Fighters album alone knocked Adele off the number one spot although briefly, but it turned out that Rock music is not dead....but to MSN I guess it is

I bought 4 of these, not saying which, each was disappointing once you took away the chart single releases. So many other releases have been overlooked in this list. Pity, it could have been much better.
